Felien, the face behind Atelier Felien
I am Felien, founder and creator behind Atelier Felien (formerly Lont & Co).
Before starting my own atelier, I worked as a senior research associate in the biotechnology world. That world taught me precision, patience and how to switch gears when problems arise. At the same time, I have always been someone who needs to create, explore and keep learning.
In addition to my work, I am a mum to two energetic children and two cats, a wife, and someone who finds peace in nature. I am always up for a long walk in the woods, working in the garden with my hands in the soil, or a quiet moment with a book when I can. Music keeps me balanced, and travelling continues to inspire me. London, where I did an internship in cancer research during my studies, still feels like a place that shaped me.
The journey of Atelier Felien
In 2016, out of curiosity, I started making my own candles. What began as an experiment with vegetable waxes gradually grew into something more serious. In 2020, with a mixture of fear, curiosity and determination, I decided to turn that hobby into a business and so I founded Lont & Co, focusing on rapeseed wax candles.
Over the years, I felt the need to grow creatively. After a lot of practice, lots of workshops with the amazing Libelia Keramiek, but also PotBySuz, and learning through the Patreon community of Kara Leigh Ford Ceramics, ceramics officially became part of my work. What started with candles evolved into a combination of candles and handcrafted ceramics.
In 2025–2026, it became clear to me that the name Lont & Co felt limiting. The name was strongly associated with candles, while my work had become broader. Atelier Felien felt like a logical next step; more personal, more complete and with room to grow further.
What characterises Atelier Felien
Every candle and every ceramic piece is handmade and finished by me. No mass production, but smaller batches or sometimes just one unique piece. I work with care and intention, and accept that craftsmanship brings character and small imperfections. Which can still be a challenge for someone who is a perfectionist. Every piece that leaves the studio is unique.

Conscious
From carefully selected natural raw materials to made-to-order production and conscious packaging: each piece is made with care and attention to the entire creation process.
With Atelier Felien, I want to pursue this also in a different way, namely by having trees planted every year. More information will follow soon.
Curiosity
Curiosity keeps this studio moving. I continue to learn, experiment, refine. Exploring new shapes, textures and combinations in ceramics and candles is central. Atelier Felien is a growing story, built step by step. Going with the flow.
Personal
Running a one-person business isn't always easy. There were doubts, shifting priorities, and moments of reflection. But growth rarely follows a straight line.
Atelier Felien exists because I chose to keep building, adjusting and moving forward, balancing creativity, entrepreneurship and my family.
If my journey stands for anything, it is this: you don't need to have everything perfectly planned out before you start. You can build something valuable (whatever that means to you) through courage, curiosity, consistency and a willingness to evolve.
Through my work, I aim to create pieces that bring warmth and character to everyday life, and perhaps also give you the confidence to follow your own path, in whatever way that may be.
